Man, this week has been a STRU-UGLE!
I have sat down at my laptop a dozen times to write a post and cannot find the words to express the ideas I have. I don’t know if I am doing it the right way. Should I be using video, should I be using a podcast, what do I do?
It is so deflating sometimes to have all of these ideas on my mind and not really know how to approach them. It makes me want to take a nap!
Do you ever feel that way?
I just want to get up in the morning, not have to go to work, work on my business, start a new venture, and maybe take a photography class. Instead, I have to clock in and work for the man 40 hours a week.
I don’t want it to sound like I don’t like the work I do, I absolutely love it. I get to work with individuals everyday and coach them on how to be more successful, run more effective organizations, and achieve great things. My struggle is, I am doing it under someone else.
I want to use this time though to say, it is okay to get out of rhythm. Its natural to wake up some days and just not feel it. It is how you respond that separates the goal achievers from the dreamers.
My road block this week has been over thinking. Paralysis by Analysis. I am in a place where I am comfortable with my site and the content I am delivering but, I want to take it to the next level. I want to offer something more beneficial to you. Something more than a writing. But what?
Instead of researching and testing, I have decided to do nothing. I have not touched my site for almost a week. Talk about a step backwards!
The key here is to not beat yourself up. The key is to commit and get back on track. Sometimes your not motivated. Remember Motivation Sucks. There is a distinct difference between motivated and committed!
I am harder on myself than most and it can become an unhealthy spiral of self destruction and self doubt. The worst thing you can do is belittle yourself at a time when you are already feeling down. So how do you get out of it?
Here is what I did to get back on track this week-
- Master Mind Meeting – The best thing you can do is get outside support. I meet with my cousin once a month to talk business, set goals, and hold each other accountable. Every time I leave a meeting with him I am pumped about my business and taking action. You need to find a support system and tap into them when you are lacking self motivation.
- Physical Activity – I am an avid runner. I don’t run for fitness I run to meditate. It clears my head and helps me organize my thoughts. Sometimes it helps me forget all of my thoughts, get out any aggression, and reconnect with the world around me. Do something that makes you sweat! Find an activity that allows you to let go of the mental stresses and rejuvenate not just your body but also your spirit.
- Read – Or something that engages your mind and provokes thought. It is amazing how mindful and inspired I become by reading a few chapters of a good book. If you are looking for inspiration I have compiled a list of must reads. I will personally guarantee you reading one of these will get you inspired and back on track.
Find something that works for you. If your goal is fitness, get a work out partner and hold each other accountable. Look at photos of yourself and reconnect with your High Emotional Value Goals.
I would love to hear what things you do to get yourself back on track when you are lacking commitment and inspiration! Please share your thoughts in the comments!
